Building
a Culture
of Makers

Hackers, Inventors, and Artists

MAKER:

A person who enjoys creating.

FAB LAB:

Short for “fabrication laboratory.” It is a community where makers share tools and collaborate on ideas.

Fab Lab Fort Smith is a collective of individuals residing and working around the River Valley area. We are a group of creatives that have a big vision to build a sustainable maker community while also revitalizing small town America.

Our Mission

Community Development

This is our primary focus. We wish to nurture a culture of makers, hackers, inventors, and artists. We want to see creative pursuits in our homes, neighborhoods, and cities. We believe sharing this culture through training, collaborative creating, and economic endeavors will improve the lives of everyone around us and increase quality of life for everyone.

Education

We are bridging the skills gap through collaborative training. Collectively, the Fab Lab community’s skills include woodworking, welding, electronics, sewing, programming, cyber security, blockchains, 3d modeling/printing, cooking, gardening, and much more. We bring these skills together in formal and informal trainings enabling people to create whatever they think up. And, in doing so, create the life they want.

Economic

Every business or service starts as an idea. Every job requires skills. Fab Lab not only has the tools necessary to prototype and build out your idea for a business, but the training necessary to build skills preparing you for any technical trade. We believe in creating opportunity by minimizing the barriers to entry and encouraging an inclusive bottom-up economic revolution!
